Mark Lower, Ph.D., P.E., is a program manager at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He has worked in operations and energy-related R&D for over 30 years including areas of neutron sciences, battery manufacturing, additive manufacturing.

He has performed several accident investigations for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and authored several technical papers on pressure safety.

Mark is currently the Vice-Chair of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Standards Committee, and past-Chair of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pressure Safety Committee.

He earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He holds several certifications from American Welding Association, the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors, and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
